Gulf Fritillary butterflies lay their eggs on passion flower vines where the caterpillars hatch and feast on the leaves. After going through the chrysalis phase of metamorphosis, the beautiful adult butterflies emerge. The wings of these gorgeous butterflies have the look of stained glass windows when the sunlight shines through them. The backs and fronts of the wings have strikingly different patterns and colors.
